They attended workshops such as Fundamentals of Effective Camp Programming, Strategic Planning, Fund Development, Digital Marketing, and more. They attended 3 keynote speakers, 3 worship services, a Presbyterian Church Camp and Conference Association (PCCCA) meeting, a camp vendor fair, and many community building activities. They experienced worship through song, led by famous musician Ken Medema, and visual art, led by A Sanctified Art's founder Lisle Gwynn Garrity. They left the conference with new ideas and vision for Bethelwoods and new colleagues and friends.
The last night of worship Dr. Luke Powery from Duke Divinity School spoke on 1 Corinthians 12 and the Body of Christ. It was so encouraging to hear how we are all part of the Body, and not only do we each bring gifts to the table, but we all need each other to be whole. We studied this passage with our Bethelwoods campers this past summer, and it was great to be reminded of the power of this Scripture. Our relationships shifted this week from knowing Presbyterian camping professionals to knowing people from many different denominations. As Dr. Powery said, "I cannot meet my full potential until you meet your full potential. We are the body, and we are better together than apart."
We challenge you this week to think about what strengths you bring to the Body, the people around you and, what they bring as well.
1 Corinthians 12:27: Now you are the body of Christ, and each one of you is a part of it.
