Stephen grew up in Charleston, South Carolina, where he attended church at Second Presbyterian and Charlestowne Methodist. In 2009, Stephen graduated from the Academic Magnet High School in North Charleston and went on to attend Clemson University, where he graduated in 2013 with a Bachelor’s of Science in Biochemistry. Throughout his childhood, Stephen was always excited about making the 3-hour trek to the Upstate and Bethelwoods for a week of summer camp. He did this each year attending our MADD, Night Owl, and LIT/CIT (Leader/Counselor in Training) resident camps. While at Clemson, Stephen served four continuous summers on staff at Bethelwoods, as both a Counselor and as Resident Camp Coordinator. In addition, during the school year Stephen worked as a Retreat Group Host, a Kid’s Night Out Host, and performed maintenance around the camp. It was through his experience at Bethelwoods that Stephen’s passion for camp ministry grew. To further develop this calling, Stephen spent the 2014 and 2015 seasons in Kansas City, MO serving at Heartland Presbyterian Center. During his internship there, Stephen gained first-hand experience in year-round camp ministry, while also serving as an intern for Children and Youth Fellowship at Second Presbyterian Church in Kansas City. In his spare time you will find Stephen reading, watching TV, playing games, hanging out with friends, and following Clemson Football!
