Bethelwoods.
Out of all of the places in the world, God wanted me there. Now I can see the reason quite clearly. But let’s start from the beginning... My life wasn’t going well, and I’ve been praying really hard for a change for a long time. Bethelwoods was God’s way to get me out of my comfort zone and change me internally. And when you are out of your comfort zone, miracles happen. That was my case, for sure. Coming to the USA from Poland, a solo trip as a young girl, not knowing much about traveling and American culture yet, was quite an experience for me. I was scared but, at the same time, incredibly excited. When you think of a seed and how it grows into a beautiful flower, this is how I feel when I think of me and Bethelwoods. I was there for about three months but I’d never developed as much as during my time on the camp. This was my first time praying out loud with other people. Beautiful nights with fireflies. People that I will never forget, even though it was such a short period of time. Children scream, but when I think of it, I smile. Pure joy. It wasn’t always comfortable and perfect, but this is where the most growth came from. We had a couple of moments of tiredness. Working as a counselor is hard work but absolutely worth it! And just like a seed uncomfortably breaks through the ground, I did, and something amazing happened to me. I wasn't the same afterwards. I used this example because it perfectly illustrates the whole experience. And just like a seed needs a proper environment to flourish, this is what parents choose for their children when they decide to make them Bethelwoods campers. I find it very interesting that one place can make so much change. Do you wonder how this place affects people? Once you know God has His hand on something, you can be sure it will prosper. And God’s hand is on it. Bethelwoods is used by God to bless people. With friendships. With our faith growing. Learning how to forgive others and solve problems. Finding true peace. Focusing on Him and overall learning how to become more like Jesus. All of the campers in Bethelwoods were so beautifully unique. Who would have thought that children would teach me so many important life lessons? God uses powerfully anyone who is willing to be His vessel. My campers were definitely the best children on Earth. I miss them a lot, and I believe they will bring lots of good into this world. I couldn't tell you my favorite memory from the camp as there were too many. However, what I can reveal is that the cooking class with children actually helped me. Long story short, God gifted me in some areas, but cooking definitely wasn't on the list of my talents. Out of all of the seasons I had in my life, this was the chapter I will never forget, and I don’t ever want to forget. I hope to see you again someday, Bethelwoods! With love, Ola
